GiGi Adesso is a naturally gifted writer who has written several stories for as long as she can remember. She is both a Canadian and a Nigerian who lives in Canada. In an interview with Media Africa, she expressed her dedication and passion for writing. Miss Adesso also gave a hint about details and updates on her upcoming novel, which she said will be provided as the publication date draws closer.
Talking about her love for writing, she said, “I have written stories from a very early stage to this day.” I always carry a pen no matter where I am; inspiration can strike at any moment. I love to be prepared. I love to thrill and entertain with the stories I tell, but most of all, I love to inspire people to be all that they can be. Don’t ask me why; I don’t know why”
Delving into her Canadian and Nigerian descent, she pointed out that she loves both countries equally. She believed that neither of the countries was greater than the other. Reechoing her pride in belonging to these countries, she said she is deeply connected to both and sees it as a privilege. Reiterating her love for both countries, she made it known that she has lived in these countries and has enjoyed a dual culture, but for the most part, Nigerian cuisine and fashion appealed to her. She recounted that the country’s diversity in these areas excited her adventurous personality.
In the interview, she indicated that the advent of new media web tools such as Zoom has provided her with new ways to tell stories. While researching events and figures from history, she leverages these virtual platforms to tell stories in a way people seem to enjoy. This enthusiastic response, according to her, has been quite a surprise. Her focus remains on exploring the past in a meaningful way through understanding the present so that informed choices can be made to shape our future.
