Ghana’s Black Stars are preparing for a crucial international window as head coach Carlos Queiroz names a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

The Black Stars are set to face Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign, with the team also scheduled to play an international friendly against Morocco in October.

One of the major talking points surrounding the squad is the return of Mohammed Kudus, who missed Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign through injury. His return provides another attacking option as the Black Stars begin their preparations for the AFCON qualifiers.

Kudus Returns to the Black Stars

Mohammed Kudus' return is expected to attract significant attention from Ghanaian football supporters. The midfielder was unavailable for Ghana's 2026 World Cup campaign because of injury but has now been included in Queiroz's squad for the upcoming fixtures.

His availability adds experience and attacking quality to a Black Stars team looking to begin its AFCON 2027 qualification campaign strongly.

AFCON 2027 Qualification the Main Objective

With two competitive fixtures against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, Ghana's immediate focus will be on securing positive results in the race for qualification to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The additional friendly against Morocco will also give the technical team an opportunity to assess the squad against one of Africa's leading football nations.

For Carlos Queiroz and his players, the objective is clear: start the AFCON 2027 qualification journey on a strong note and build momentum for the matches ahead.

Ghanaian supporters will now turn their attention to the squad's preparations as the Black Stars get ready for a busy international schedule.

The mission is AFCON 2027 qualification. 🇬🇭🏆
