Nandi Jola in her work, ‘Home is Neither Here Nor There’ presents a repertoire of Poetic themes by way of an anthology of poems that showcases the writer’s literary prowess and her creativity in successfuly merging together a collection of poetic themes that captivates the readers. The writer draws the readers into her inner thoughts and takes the readers along on her journey and experiences relating to the various themes she presents in her Poems. In her concluding Piece, “The Veranda Sunsets” Nandi opens up and engages in a candid introspection with her beginnings in her country of South Africa and to the present in her new found home of Belfast. The collection “explores the themes of Home, Migration and the fragile relationship between Human, animals and morals”.
Nandi Jola is a South African born poet, storyteller and playwright. she was a Smock Alley Theatre Rachel Baptiste 2022 Programme recipient and a creative writing facilitator for Ulster University Books Beyond Boundaries NI in 2001. In 2020 her one woman play ‘the journey’ was the opening at the International Literature Festival in Dublin. Nandi represented Northern Ireland at the Transpose Poetry Jukebox, Ambiguities, a James Joyce programme of the Centre Culturel Irelands and Impermanence Way Archive Project 2022. Nandi Jola holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree from Queens University Belfast.
